A. Personal Standards Of Conduct
In a changing world, the Christian has an unchanging standard, the Word of God. Every student is therefore expected to aim at living a life above reproach. When a student attends Bible School, his friends, his church, his family and the world in general expect a higher standard of life from him/her. There are many details of life which of necessity must be regulated by the school. As a result, personal standards of life must be on the very highest plane, not only to assist the student in forming life-long habits which honour the Lord, but also to protect the standards of the school from variations of conduct which, though sincere, might be misunderstood by others. If a student is not willing to submit his personal life to the discipline of the Word of God, or the Godly guidance of the faculty, then this is not the school for him.
B. Student Council
Officers for the Student Council are elected in the month of February each year to assist in the overall development of the student’s life. The Student Council provides: 1. A forum for the expression of the views of the student body on matters affecting the operation of the school. 2. The opportunity to foster and promote a sense of community and school spirit. 3. Means for addressing students’ interests and concerns.
C. Spiritual Emphasis
Spiritual Emphasis is held during each Academic Year. Students are encouraged to pray and fast during this week.
D. Chapel Service
Chapel Services are designed to contribute to the continued spiritual growth of student and faculty. It is a requirement for all students enrolled at WIST.
E. Christian Service
Preparation of students for all aspects of leadership and ministry is considered a high priority. Alongside theoretical instructions, the school makes provision for practical training and experience. Students are encouraged to become involved in various activities including Evangelism, Children, Youth Ministry and School Outreach. During the student’s training program, some opportunity is given for the testing of theory through practical ministry. This exercise is intended to facilitate the Ministry in this context includes the following areas: leadership such as Pastoral work, Christian Educators, Missionary Outreach as well as the other necessary functions within the church. The overall aim in training is to prepare students to unselfishly and wholeheartedly work for the furtherance of God’s Kingdom.
F. Ministry Involvement
Students are required to become integrated into a church of their choice in consultation with the Director of Student Affairs Learning experience is an invaluable curriculum development project that no classroom can teach one how to accomplish it, therefore the student is richer for such experience and it must be so recognized and documented as learning having taken place. Prior learning Assessment (PLA) is a feature of the institution and mature students are given consideration in the transfer of credit policy. Learning is a lifelong process; therefore learning with happiness should be rewarded.
G. Accommodation
RESIDENTIAL On-Campus accommodation is available for single students in two (2) dormitories male and female respectively. Accommodation for married students is provided, based upon request.
NON RESIDENTIAL There is the option of non-residential status but students are greatly encouraged to have a minimum of one semester residency experience.
