Personal Standards of Conduct
 
In a changing world, the Christian has an unchanging standard, the Word of God. Every student is therefore expected to aim at living a life above reproach. When a student attends Bible School, his friends, his church, his family and the world in general expect a higher standard of life from that person. There are many details of life which of necessity must be regulated by the school. As a result, personal standards of life must be on the very highest plane, not only to assist the student in forming life-long habits which honour the Lord, but also to protect the standards of the school from variations of conduct which, though sincere, might be misunderstood by others. If a student is not willing to submit his personal life to the discipline of the Word of God, or the Godly guidance of the faculty, then this is not the school for him.

Student Council

The Student Council is comprised of the entire student body who in April of each year elects officers to sit on the Student Council Executive (SCE).  The SCE assists with the overall development of student life and provides:

  1. A forum for the expression of the views of the student body on matters affecting the operation of the school.
  2. An opportunity to foster and promote a sense of community and school spirit.
  3. A means for addressing students’ interests and concerns.
Spiritual Emphasis

Spiritual Emphasis is held during each Academic Year. Students are encouraged to pray and fast during this week.

Chapel Service

Chapel Services are designed to contribute to the continued spiritual growth of students and faculty. Attendance is a requirement for all students enrolled at WIST.

Christian Service

Preparation of students for all aspects of leadership and ministry is considered a high priority. Alongside classroom instruction, the school makes provision for practical training and experience. Students are encouraged to become involved in various activities including Evangelism, Children’s and Youth Ministry and School Outreach.

During the student’s training programme, some opportunity is given for the testing of theory through practical ministry. This exercise includes the following areas: leadership such as Pastoral work, Christian Education, Missionary Outreach, as well as the other functions necessary to the local  church. The overall aim in training is to prepare students to unselfishly and wholeheartedly work for the furtherance of God’s Kingdom.

Ministry Involvement

Students are required to become integrated into a church of their choice in consultation with the Director of Student Affairs

This provides invaluable learning experiences that no classroom can provide. Consequently, the student is richer for such experiences that may be recognized and documented.

Prior learning Assessment (PLA) is a feature of the institution, and mature students are given such consideration in the assessment of credits.


Recreation

A recreation room is also available on campus for students to engage in leisure activities and physical exercises.
